Ban someone on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is a free communication service, but anyone with your phone number can email you through WhatsApp. Whether you want to prevent an unwanted person or a former friend from contacting you, here’s how to do this to avoid inconvenience via WhatsApp.
What does the ban do?
When you ban someone on WhatsApp:
- The messages they send you will not be delivered.
- They will see that the messages have not been delivered, but they will not know why.
- They won’t be able to see your last appearance online.
- The messages they sent you will not be deleted.
- The message you sent them will not be deleted.
- You will not be removed as a contact on their phones.
- It will not be removed as a contact on your phone.
How to block someone on WhatsApp
Block someone on iOS
To block someone for iOS, go chat with them and click on their name at the top.
Scroll down and click Block this contact. Click Block again to confirm your desire to block them.
You can also go to settings> account> privacy> blockers.
Here you’ll see a list of all blocked contacts. Click a new add-on and find the contact you want to block. Select them and they will be added to your blocked list.
Block someone for Android
To block someone for Android, go chat with them and click on the three points in the top right corner. Click on block and confirm it. They will now be banned.
Alternatively, you can go to settings> account> privacy> blocked contacts, click the add-on button and find the contact you want to block.
How to unblock someone on WhatsApp
Unblock someone on WhatsApp for iOS and Android
There are several ways to unblock someone on WhatsApp. If you try to send a message to a blocked contact, you’ll be asked to unblock it. Click Unblock to do so.
You can also reverse the process you used to block them. Go chat with the person you want to block. On iOS, click on its name, then scroll down and click unblock this contact. On Android, click the three points and then unblock.
Finally, you can go to the blocked contact screen. In iOS, press edit, then red circle, and then cancel the ban.
On Android, click or click and hold the name of the contact you want to unblock and then click Unblock from the pop-up menu.
